Companion is a personal safety app to help you get home safely or get help in case something happens along the way. It works by letting you to notify a friend before you head back home, so he or she can track you on your way. With just one click, the police can come to your help using the GPS in your device.
First you need to manually indicate your final destination by clicking on the map. Once that's set, select the desired contacts in your phonebook and send them a request to digitally accompany you. Companion's biggest benefit is that they don't need to have the app installed: it will send them a SMS with a URL to track your route. Once they open the link, they'll know if you're following your usual route, if you've taken a detour, or if you started running for some reason.
Additionally, Companion lets you get in contact directly with your local police. You have two alarm buttons available: one to indicate you're nervous because of something and another to indicate you're in danger. If you think you're being followed or that you might be in trouble, push the first one to let your contacts know about it. Push it again within fifteen seconds if it ended up being a false alarm, otherwise they will receive an alarm message. Only push the second button if you're in a dangerous situation. This will send an alarm to the authorities.
Feel safe with this app and avoid uncomfortable or dangerous situations knowing that not only will your friend accompany your walk home from wherever they are, but also the police will look out for you and protect you from any problem you might have at any time, day or night.
